* This has been a wonderful experience for me. I don't think I could have done a "diet" like this without the plan and sample recipes. That gave me the confidence to create my own recipes too and stick to the plan. Some of my takeaways:
- My weight goals have been more achievable. My target has been 155 lbs, and I've been hovering around 161 for weeks (presumably building muscle during this time too). This week it dropped below 160 for the first time!
- Workouts are more difficult - I know it's because I'm burning more fat calories, and that gets me motivated to keep going.
- Better sleep, yay!
- I need even less food than I thought! No hunger pangs or empty stomach feeling at all this week.
- Drinking water all day is legitimately a fun habit. My kitchen always smells like fresh lemon and lime now
- No bloating after eating!!!
- I have such a huge sense of pride and joy when grocery shopping now. Something about a couple bags full of healthy foods is rewarding and affirming.
- Mindful eating and snacking, and planning ahead pays off. I'm much more aware of what I need and when (and when just some almond butter and oat milk will do the trick). –Joseph Quadara

* My top three goals upon starting a six-month program with a health coach were finding a consistent balance to support my health and new-found bone issues and to maintain my ability to be an athlete. * When Nan and I initially started, I had some goals that included losing weight, better exercise habits, and more social interaction. Much of the coaching is around a complete and balanced picture of health. Over the course of the program, I came to find out that the socially focused goal items were more important to me than the physical aspects. Simply getting clear on that and being supported in those endeavors has made a significant difference. I've met many interesting people both personally and professionally and have a more complete and balanced life as a result. Due to an overall shift in perspective brought about and supported by Nan's coaching, events unfolded that opened up even better family relationships. I was surprised upon reviewing our six month coaching session by how much had been accomplished. Not only were many stated goals explored, fleshed out and/or accomplished, but many issues and concerns that came up were also included in the mix. This added to a more complete and balanced overall health picture. It's been such a joy. As a result, I decided to renew my sessions for another six months!
